Rental Owners Association of Lane County is a member of the Oregon Rental Housing Organization (ORHA). ORHA is a professional statewide organization of businesses and individuals involved in the rental housing industry, working together to:

• Safeguard the economic investment of the members
• Develop and promote high standards
• Encourage fair and equitable rental owner and resident relationships
• Promote reasonable laws and regulations.
• Link members and associations through an effective communication network.

ORHA consists of 15 local organizations, including Rental Owners Association of Lane County.  They are all dedicated to the same core principles: training and educating owners about changes in the laws and providing educational opportunities to help do their jobs more effectively.

ORHA has a strong reputation of fighting for rental owners and managers interests in the public policy arena.  Whether it is in the Oregon Legislature or local city halls, the association cares about laws that will impact landlords. For years ORHA has fought off interests that have wanted to impose rent control legislation.  Each time the association has been successful in defeating the proposals, most recently during the latest (2005) legislative session.  ORHA has an excellent lobbyist who represents our interests at the Oregon Legislature. Most importantly, ORHA has experts in landlord/tenant law-watching and fighting for changes which allow rental owners and managers to conduct business with the least amount of regulation and the most protection from tenants who abuse their rights. Of the 100 plus bills that ORHA tracked in the 2005 legislative session, ORHA passed the bills it supported (3) and killed every unfavorable bill to rental property owners (8).
